Galway resident ready to rumble as wrestling mania comes to Salthill

For the first time in over three years, stars of American wrestling will invade Salthill. On Sunday August 14 the powerhouses of Emerald Wrestling Promotions stamp their mark all over Lesiureland Salthill at 2.45pm.

In an evening of guaranteed non stop action, those in attendance will witness the incredible power of heavyweight gladiators and the athleticism of their high flying cruiserweight counterparts. One wrestler looking forward to entertaining the fans at Leisureland is Galway resident Eamon Shrahan.

Shrahan was born and raised in Clonmacnoise, County Offaly and in January of 2001 he set about chasing his lifelong dream when he moved permanently to Portsmouth on the south coast of England. There he trained in what is widely recognised as the best wrestling training school in Europe, the FWA Academy.

Since making his professional debut in January 2002, Shrahan’s career has gone from strength to strength, accumulating many accolades along the way. The Offaly man has held titles for many established promotions all over Europe, including Germany, France, Spain, and Italy. Shrahan has become one of the most established performers on the British circuit where he has teamed with WWE Champion Sheamus, forming the impressive Celtic Warriors.

Eamon, who performs under the name Eamon O’Neill, moved home to Ireland just over a year ago and has been living in Galway city for the past six months. When asked about the event, Shrahan said: "I'm really looking forward to wrestling in Leisureland, Salthill, because most people in Ireland only see wrestling on TV and they don't realise what an incredible spectacle it can be when you are so close to the action. I love living in Galway, there is always a great atmosphere and buzz around the city. I actually wrestled here five years ago while on a tour of Ireland and thought the fans were fantastic. I hope the wrestling fans of Galway will come out in force to support myself and the various international wrestling stars on the 14th".

Also in action in Leisureland will be the British Destroyer - Stixx. Standing six feet three inches tall with over 17 stone of pure muscle, Stixx is an intimidating force for any challenger. Having dominated the UK heavyweight wrestling scene for the past six years, Stixx recently found even more success when WWE contacted him for a tryout at the 02 Arena London. Following the tryout, the WWE offered the English powerhouse a contract which he has accepted and he will move to the USA in January 2012 to perform for the company.

Stixx recently issued a challenge to any Irish wrestler to battle him on August 14 – one which was bravely accepted by Eamon O’Neill. Stixx stated: “O’Neill has bitten off more than he can chew and he better be ready for Ireland to be embarrassed by England again.”

Other wrestlers scheduled to appear on the night include high flying Mexican Lightning Kid, whose top rope shooting star press is something not to miss out on, Welsh Dragon Andy Boy Simmonz who has performed many times on WWE TV and The American Idol - Sean Sensation. After a jam packed evening of exciting matches, fans in attendance will have the opportunity to meet all the superstars and collect autographs and pictures with the show having a family friendly theme. Tickets for this American wrestling event can be purchased now at the reception desk of Lesiureland, Salthill.
