Marathon man local elected head of CIMA West

Brian Duffy FCMA of Maree Road, Oranmore has been elected chairman of the West of Ireland branch of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA ).

Mr. Duffy, who was a member of the Galway All-Ireland U-21 hurling champions team in 1993 and regularly completes marathons for charity, is a co-founding Partner of DFS & Co., Accountants & Business Advisors and a Director of Tri Everest Wealth Management Limited. Originally from Castlegar and an NUI Galway commerce graduate, Mr Duffy co-founded DFS & Co. with his partners in 2007. DFS & Co provides accounting, business advice to both business and individual clients. Tri Everest is a specialist in wealth management, and financial advice. Prior to establishing DFS & Co., Mr. Duffy worked with KBC Bank and Nortel. Mr Duffy is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA ) and Chartered Banker (CeB ) as well as holding an MBA from Manchester Business School.

A keen sportsman, Mr.Duffy has completed the Dublin City Marathon, the New York City Marathon and the London City Marathon and in doing so has raised funds for the Alan Kerins African Projects, Croi Cardiology Foundation and the Irish Cancer Society. He is a member of Castlegar Athletic Club and Castlegar Hurling Club.
