Enjoy a day out and help COPE

COPE Galway will hold its first midsummer fete by the River Corrib in the grounds of NUI Galway on Sunday July 24 from 1pm-6pm. Entry to this action packed family event is free.

The fete will feature music by local artists, there will be gourmet food and drink stalls, lots of games for children, including Giant Jenga, Connect Four, Twister, egg and spoon and sack races, bouncy castles and face painting.

There will be a number of items on sale including jewellery, clothes, headpieces, soaps, wood craft, plants and much more.

There will also be a children’s lucky dip, guess the weight competition and a tombola wheel with lots of prizes.

Fintan Maher of COPE Galway says this is the charity’s first year holding such a fete.

“We are delighted that NUI Galway has given us permission to host the event in the grounds of the university. The setting is perfect by the River Corrib and we are encouraging families to come along and have a lovely afternoon playing games by the river.

“It is a perfect setting for a summer picnic and all you require for a scrumptious picnic or afternoon tea will be available at the fete. Best of all, all of the stall holders are donating part of their proceeds to support our work and all of the proceeds for the tombola, etc, will be going to COPE Galway.”

The proceeds will go to the organisation’s services for homeless men and women, women and children who experience domestic violence and older vulnerable people who live in isolation in Galway.
