LONDON’S CALLINO Quartet will perform Schubert’s masterpiece, the Octet in F major D803, at St Mary’s Church of Ireland Cathedral in Tuam as part of this year’s Galway Arts Festival.
The all-female quartet will perform the work on Wednesday July 13 at 8pm and they will be joined by Ronan Dunne (double bass ), Sarah Beaty (clarinet ), Stephen Stirling (French horn ), and Peter Whelan (bassoon ) for the show. There will be a chance to meet the musicians afterwards.
The Callino Quartet have worked with Arcade Fire; the Kronos (in Carnegie Hall New York ), Vogler, and Belcea string quartets; double bassist Edgar Meyer; pianist Barry Douglas; jazz guitarist John Abercrombie; and Swedish jazz singer Sophie Dunér.
