What they do in America, they sooner or later try here. The US presidential election some ‘town hall’ style debates between Barack Obama and John McCain - and now Fine Gael is going to try the format here.
Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny recently announced that he will hold a series of ‘town hall’ style meetings around the country. The meetings will be open to the public and they will be able to ask questions and express their point of view.
Dep Kenny is hoping to give vent to public anger over the Budget and with the Government and give Fine Gael a boost in the run up to next year’s Local Elections. The meetings will see Dep Kenny and other FG speakers discuss party policy and issues of concern to the local area.
The meetings will take place in the run up to Christmas and one is scheduled for Galway. However no date and location for this FG ‘town hall’ meeting has been finalised as yet.
