FLUTE PLAYER, flute maker, composer, Roisín na Mainíach, Carna man, Marcus Hernon is all these things, and now he can add author to that list.
Marcus will launch his new book, The Grouse In The Heather, named after his acclaimed album in St Nicholas’s Collegiate Church on Thursday June 30 at 8pm.
The book features notations to Marcus’s compositions from the album. There are also contributions by Marcus’s sons - Breandán provides the sketches of the birds that inspired the tunes while Prionsais is responsible for the script and the musical notation. The book details 25 native Irish birds and features a description in English and as Gaeilge.
The Hernon family will be accompanied by leading County Galway musicians at the launch. All are welcome but places are limited so early arrival is advised.
