A man died after being struck by a car while walking near his home in Spiddal at the weekend.
Seamus Cooley (35 ) of Cnocan Glas in Spiddal was walking home at Salahoona at 1am on Saturday when the tragedy occurred. Mr Cooley was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to University College Hospital for a post mortem examination.
The driver of the car, who is understood to be a local woman, was uninjured but was traumatised by the incident.
Mr Cooley was buried in Spiddal on Tuesday.
