Republic of Loose @ Monroe’s Live

IRELAND’S LIBIDINOUS funk’n’soul brothers, The Republic of Loose, return to Monroe’s Live tomorrow night.

The band have draw praise from fellow musicians and the music press for their very Irish take on funk and soul music. Their second album Aaagh debuted in the Irish charts at No 2 and was nominated for a Choice Music award while 2008’s Vol IV Johnny Pyro and the Dance of Evil saw audiences in Britain and the States take note.

The Guardian has praised the band’s “delicious funk-pop stuff, with its lascivious lyrics and libidinous rhythms”; Gary Lightbody has called them “The best band in the country this year and for many years to come”; while Shane MacGowan said: “Republic of Loose are what it’s all about”.

Doors are at 9.30pm. Support is from The Paul King Band. Tickets are €17/15 from Monroe’s Bar or by emailing [email protected]
