Sharpen your networking skills and develop your business at speed event

Do you want to sharpen your networking skills and learn new tactics to grow your business? Ballybane Enterprise Centre is hosting a speed networking event for business on Wednesday May 11 which aims to help build and strengthen local companies, by exploring the possibilities of local businesses doing business together.

Facilitated by Nial O’Reilly, this unique, fast-paced and exciting business-networking event offers an experiential approach to networking with opportunities for participants to put into practice new skills learned at the event.

A highly qualified executive coach with many years experience of team and group performance facilitation, Mr O’Reilly will explore new ways of networking, and help participants develop their individual action plans for networking.

Announcing the event Liam Bluett, general manager, Ballybane Enterprise Centre said that in the current economic climate the importance of making good long term business relationships cannot be underestimated,.

“Valuable contacts are essential for a business’s short term and long term success. The "Speed Networking for Business” event is a 'no-frills' approach for local firms to come and get involved in making direct face-to- face contact with other local firms, with the sole purpose of you promoting yourself and your business in a cost effective manner.”

Nial O’Reilly said that in today’s highly competitive world, being a confident and effective networker sets you apart from the crowd and creates more business opportunities than the average.

“Although we are all aware of this, many people are uncomfortable networking and are unsure how to approach it. Next Wednesday’s seminar will offer practical advice and guidance on how to sharpen your networking skills so that you can build profitable business relationships,” he said.

Nial O’Reilly has worked full-time as an executive coach for the last seven years and in that time has coached extensively at senior management level. His career background is in the banking sector where he worked as a senior executive, Head of Retail in Irish Permanent and Head of Operations in Permanent TSB. He was a member of the senior executive team at the bank for seven years. He left his banking career to pursue an ambition to run his own business and having achieved success through people for many years he was drawn to executive coaching.

He holds an Advanced Management Diploma in Business and Executive Coaching from the Smurfit Business School and a post graduate diploma in the Psychology of Executive coaching also from ‘Smurfit’. His passion is the facilitation of potential in people and teams. Taking a person centred approach; his work is devoted to supporting people to enhance their performance through improved self-awareness and emotional intelligence. He has worked with CEOs and senior management teams in a number of sectors improving functionality and facilitating development in individuals.

He has recently worked with Professor Robert Kegan using the ‘Immunity to Change’ framework to support clients with sustainable behavioural change and with goal achievement.

He has a passionate interest in sport and has worked with a number of sports teams in the area of team functionality and performance improvement.

He is a member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council and the International Coaching Federation. He is also an associate member of the International Positive Psychology Association. He carries full professional indemnity. He is an external consultant with the Centre for High Performance Development.

He recently delivered a two day module on ‘Coaching as a Leadership Style’ to the Sales Management Diploma Programme in UCD Smurfit. He is certified to work with a number of behavioural and personality profiling tools including DISC, BTI, Team Dimensions and Emotional Competency Analysis (‘Awareness to Action’ ).
