THE WALLS were originally a band centred on brothers Joe and Steve Wall, but this year finds them in a new incarnation.
The Walls play Monroe’s Live on Friday April 29 at 9.30pm and the audience will be treated to a very unusual spectacle - the two brothers playing a variety of instruments in front of a projection screen where the rest of their band will appear to accompany them in perfect sync.
The brothers first tried out the idea in 2009 during shows in Eastern Europe and since then they have performed this kind of show across Ireland and at the prestigious SXSW Festival in Texas.
In this show anything can happen, so watch the screen for a roadie who says the keyboard player is missing, so he plays the organ instead; windmills and trees; and a flock of birds invading the stage.
The Walls will be performing new songs from their forthcoming album Stop The Lights, as well as many of the old favourites. In the meantime there is the new EP Bird In A Cage, released earlier this month.
The EP is essentially a short story put to music, an autobiographical tale of a young family moving from Dublin to the west of Ireland. Listen to it at http://thewalls.bandcamp.com/
