Galway Early Music Festival returns next month

THE SIXTEENTH Galway Early Music Festival returns to the mediaeval streets of Galway city from May 19 to 22.

The festival, voted one of the top six international festivals in a recent edition of Classical Music magazine, celebrates medieval, renaissance, and baroque music.

This year’s highlights include performances from I Fagiolini, winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society Ensemble Award 2005 and Siobhan Armstrong and The Irish Consort.

Combining music and dance with colourful period costumes, the festival will open on Thursday May 19 with a special screening of The Full Monteverdi and finish on Sunday 22 with a session of music and storytelling.
