With Fianna Fáil reduced to just 20 TDs, party leader Micheál Martin had the easy task of giving everyone in the party opposition spokesperson positions, including both Galway FF TDs.
Galway West TD and former minister for social protection Éamon Ó Cuív has been appointed to the position of party spokesperson on communications, energy, and natural resources. Galway East TD and Micheal Kitt has been appointed as spokesperson on housing, planning, and Gaeltacht Affairs.
“With the Fine Gael/Labour Government enjoying a large majority, it is critically important they are met with a robust and constructive opposition in the Dáil,” said FF leader Micheál Martin.
“In choosing the spokespeople I have, my priority has been to place individuals in roles where they will hold Government to account and play a constructive part in ensuring that Government take forward the policies necessary to protect the country’s recovery.”
