Calling all Galway daredevils to take leap

All Galway thrill-seekers are encouraged to take part in a charity bungee jump in aid of Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland (SBHI ) which will be taking place during a fundraiser on Saturday May 7.

Taking place at the Point Village, the bungee jump, organised by Bungee Ireland, will kick off at 9.30am and finish at 6pm.

A special safety harness and special assistance provided on the day will also allow those with spina bifida to take part in this exciting event.

For those who like the adrenaline rush of leaping from a 100ft platform with just a giant elastic band around your ankles, the bungee jump experience is certainly as thrilling as it gets and all daredevils who always wished to try this out will get their chance while at the same time doing something worthwhile for charity.

Irish actor and comedian Brendan O’Carroll (from Mrs Browns Boys ) has come on board as an ambassador for the event following his own family experience with the conditions spina bifida and hydrocephalus; Brendan tragically lost a child to the conditon.

Anyone taking part in the charity bungee jump must raise a minimum of €200. Sponsorship cards are available from SBHI by calling 01 457 2329 or 01 668 0600. The day promises to be an enjoyable day out. People are invited to come along with supporters and even in fancy dress.

Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Ireland are serving a society in which all people with disabilities are recognised for their strengths and are afforded a fair and equal opportunity to make the most of their lives. They help their members to get the best from health, education and social services, as well as continuing to lobby the Government to improve services and access for the disabled. The main ambition is to enable members of the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus community to achieve full participation in society. For further information please visit www.sbhi.ie
