Galway Ladies take on Laois in last league game

The Galway Ladies senior footballers conclude their league campaign next Sunday when they travel to Portlaoise to take on Laois.

They will be hoping for a better result after a disappointing 0-9 to 4-12 defeat to Cork on Sunday.

Galway did not turn up for this one, and were outclassed in every area of the pitch. The game was all but over at half time, as Galway only managed three points through Aoibheann Daly, Tracey Leonard and Barbara Hannon.

Cork ran riot, and netted three goals through Rhona Buckley, Amy O’Shea and a Valerie Mulcahy penalty to lead by 3-10 to 0-3 at the break.

Lacking the spark that saw them reach the league final last year, Galway continued to stutter in the second half with Cork cruising.

Galway: T Hughes; N Lohan (L Gannon 54m ), E Flaherty, C Cormican (0-1 ); G Conneally, R McPhilbin, AM McDonagh (B Walsh 37m ); A Daly (0-1 ) (A Clarke 50m ), D Lawless; D Gorman, B Hannon (0-1 ) (L Joyce 30m ), S Murphy (L Hannon 50m ); T Leonard (0-4 ), M Coyne (E Concannon 29m 0-1 ), S Burke.
