A man charged with possession of a number of implements, including a baseball bat, believed to be intended for use during a burglary has been further remanded on continuing bail to a court sitting in May for the service of a book of evidence.
Martin Flaherty (22 ) with an address at 202 Castlepark, Ballybane, appeared before Judge Mary Fahy at Galway District Court on Monday charged with being in possession of a baseball bat, a crowbar, and a baton with the intention of their being used in connection with a burglary at Castlepark, on November 13, 2010. The accused man elected to have the matter dealt with in a higher court by a judge and jury and it was adjourned to May 23 for the book of evidence.
Flaherty is also charged with a number of other offences which arise out of the same incident. These include being in possession of cannabis herb, failing to stop his vehicle, drink driving, driving without insurance or a driving licence, as well as nine counts of dangerous driving at Ballybane Road, Bother na dTreabh, Headford Road, Quinncentenial Bridge, Siobhan McKenna Road, Circular Road, and Claremont in Rahoon.
There is also a separate set of summons for driving without insurance and driving licence, and failure to produce these documents at Rahylin Glebe, Ballybane on November 11, 2010.
All charges and summons were also adjourned to May 23 next.
