It is “totally unacceptable” that a ramp for wheelchair users and parents with buggies at Ballyloughane “is choked with seaweed and litter, and this access is completely blocked”.
This is the view of Independent councillor Terry O’Flaherty who is calling on the Galway City Council to clean up Ballyloughane Beach.
“The seaweed has not been collected for a very long period of time, and during the current warm spell there has been a noxious stench emanating from the seaweed,” she said. “When the seaweed is not removed and piles up around the promenade, many of the residents living in the area complained about the stench.”
