Clarinbridge hurling star Alan Kerins completed a memorable and exceptional feat in Croke Park on St Patrick’s day 2011, achieving a very rare double of hurling and football medals.
In 2006 Kerins collected an All-Ireland club football medal when lining out for Salthill- Knocknacarra as they edged out St Gall’s of Antrim in the All-Ireland SFC club decider.
Kerins now has three senior All-Ireland medals - two at club level and the Celtic Cross he collected with the Galway senior footballers in 2001.
And on a special day for the Clarinbridge hurler, he was joined by brother Mark on the winners’ podium. Mark scored 1-7 as Clarinbridge ran away with the prize in the second half.
