Galway folk singer-songwriter Don Stiffe and Abbeyknockmoy’s Cosa Beoga is seeking the support of everyone in Galway city and county when he takes to the stage for the final of the All-Ireland Talent Show.
The final will be shown on RTÉ One this Sunday at 6.30pm and Don is joint favourite to win the show along with fellow County Galway act Cosa Beoga, a young dance troupe from Abbeyknockmoy. The overall winner will receive €50,000.
Don made it through to the final following his performance of the Christy Hennessy ballad, ‘Roll Back The Clouds’ last Sunday night.
I am delighted to have reached the final,” Don said. “I am very grateful for the huge support so far and ask everyone to lift the phone or text their vote for me on and help me to achieve my dream of winning the show and doing the west proud.”
Don released his debut album Start Of A Dream in 2006 and it featured contributions from Frankie Gavin, Carl Hession, Sharon Shannon, Cathal Hayden, and Arty McGlynn.
Originally from Bohermore, Don has been living in Headford for the last 15 years with his wife Elaine and children Róisín, Eon, and Iarla.
Don will be performing in shops and schools around the region over the next 10 days to encourage continued support from the public to vote for him during the live final.
Cosa Beoga from Abbeyknockmoy in Co. Galway are hoping to bring the coveted RTÉ All-Ireland Talent Show crown to the west for the second time in three years.
“They have worked so hard to get this far and they will give it their all next Sunday for the final and do the West proud,” commented Marie Moran Greaney their mentor and dance teacher.
Speaking about their appearance and experience on the live show, Cosa Beoga dancer Joseph Boyle stated the entire group were delighted to have reached this stage of the competition. “We are all very excited about the final show and our final routine will be worth waiting for”. We just hope now that people continue to vote for us all over the country,” he said.
Cosa Beoga are inundated with requests to perform in many different St. Patrick's Day Parades across the region, but they will stay in their Community and lead the Abbeyknockmoy St. Patrick's Parade. They will then spend some time rehearsing their new routine, and they leave Abbeyknockmoy to travel to The Spin Studios in Dublin early on Friday morning where the first formal rehearsal takes place for the Final.
