Member of the public who are interested in volunteering in Galway are invited to the Volunteer Fair in the Eyre Square Shopping Centre on March 26 and 27.
The fair will be held along the restored old city wall from 12 noon to 6pm on both days, and the public is invited to talk to organisations involved in the community, sports, and arts to find out what help they need, and how to get involved.
No immediate commitment needs to be made on the day. The Volunteer Fair is being organised by Galway Volunteer Centre and local councillors Niall McNelis and Declan McDonnell and is part of the activities organised to mark 2011 as the European Year of Volunteering.
“Most volunteer work doesn’t involve a huge commitment of time, and it is a great way to learn new skills, and meet new people, while also making a positive contribution to life in Galway,” said Donncha Foley, Development Manager with Galway Volunteer Centre.
Organisations who wish to have a stand at the fair should contact 091 - 539930 or email [email protected]. Individuals who would like to do voluntary work can call into the office at 17/18 Mill Street.
