New Volkswagen Touareg SUV arrives

Volkswagen boasts that its new Touareg leaves a lasting impression with a combination of superior off-road capabilities, a high level of comfort, and groundbreaking efficiency.

The new Touareg, with an entry level price of €67,995, is indeed sharper and cleaner, yet it still maintains all the virtues of space. I will take VW's word that it also retains the comfort, refinement, and off-road and towing ability, that have led the original Touareg to build a loyal following among Irish drivers since its launch in 2003.

The new SUV radiates a higher quality and a more elegant presence, but the changes extend beyond new styling,

The new Touareg is lighter and Volkswagen explains it is also up to 20 per cent more fuel efficient than the model it replaces. A 3.0 TDI 204bhp BlueMotion technologies engine consumes 7.4 l/100km and CO2 emissions of 195g/km.

The new interior is more functional, and the seats more comfortable with increased legroom in the rear - essentially the best of the passenger car and off road worlds combined.

“We are really excited about the arrival of the new Touareg in Ireland where it has always been a firm favourite with Irish drivers,” says Adam Chamberlain, head of sales and marketing. “ We feel it is beautifully built and a genuine off-roader, combining elegance and strength to create a fantastic SUV of which Volkswagen is hugely proud.”

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will launch the new double-cab 4WD Amarok pick-up at the CV Show, taking place at Birmingham's NEC from April 12 to 14.
