One Day International @ Róisín Dubh

ONE DAY INTERNATIONAL may be named after a type of cricket test-match but none of the members of this Irish band is actually interested in cricket.

One Day International are however a highly promising quartet, with intelligent, melodic, atmospheric music - with perhaps a touch of quiet Radiohead. They play upstairs in the Róisín Dubh tomorrow at 8pm.

The band is Tasmania’s Matt Lunson (vocals ), Cormac Curran (piano ), Danny Snow (bass ), Ross Turner (drums ), and Eimear O’Grady (cello ) and is unusual in that they do not feature a guitarist.

ODI recently released their debut album Blackbird (Independent Records ). Produced by Brian Crosby (BellX1 and The Cake Sale ), Blackbird showcases their literate, thoughtful, songs to good effect. It has also won positive reviews, with Hotpress calling it “the perfect soundtrack for the coming autumn evenings”.

Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh and Zhivago.
