This week is the closing date for nominations for Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh - Galway’s bilingual business award that ‘recognises, honours and celebrates all the great bilingual work done in Galway in order to gain bilingual status for the city.

You can nominate your own business or someone else’s business for the award. It is not essential to be a fluent Irish speaker to participate in this prestigious award. The aim of the award is to recognise companies and organisations in Galway city that demonstrates a visible, genuine, and creative use of the Irish language within their business, thus impacting on their staff and the bilingual image of the city.

Representatives from a variety of businesses in Galway city met for the launch of the Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh in Bácús Uí Ghríofa/Griffin’s Bakery, Shop Street. The information evening was organised by Gaillimh le Gaeilge to assist and to encourage businesses to prepare and participate in the Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh

At the event, Gaillimh le Gaeilge also welcomed its new sponsor to the Gradam this year, Acadamh na hOllscolaíochta Gaeilge, NUI Galway, which is providing a week long Irish language course for two with accommodation included, to the value of over €1,000! The Galway Advertiser group is also a major sponsor of the Gradam.
