Garda Ombudsman investigation into fatal crash continues

An investigation by the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission into a road crash which claimed the life of a young Galway man earlier this month is still continuing.

An investigator confirmed to Galway Advertiser yesterday that the investigation in to the death of John Donnellan of Beagh, Dunmore, north Galway, is still on-going. The 22-year-old man died in a single-vehicle car crash which occurred several kilometres from his home, on the R360 Dunmore-Williamstown road, shortly before midnight on January 16 last.

The Garda Ombudsman’s office launched an investigation as a garda car had been in the vicinity at the time. It is believed that Mr Donnellan’s car had been observed by a garda car at the time and that the young man died when his car hit the roadside, went off the road, and overturned.
