Galwayman is new head of Business School at AIT

A Moycullen native has been appointed as the new Head of the Business School at Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT ).

Eoin Langan takes up the post, having served two terms as the Head of Department of Accounting and Business Computing and as the Head of Academic Development and Administration at the institute.

Mr Langan's background is in accounting. Prior to joining AIT in 2004, he worked in London for 15 years as a senior finance manager for a number of multinational companies, including Lloyds/TSB.

On returning to Ireland in 2000, he was project manager/principal consultant with EPC, an implementation partner for the business software company SAP. During this time, he worked almost exclusively for Élan, including project managing the roll-out of SAP to some of its sites in the US.

He has extensive international experience, having worked as the Asian region controller for Brink's Security in Australia, and on SAP implementations in France, Germany, Austria and Italy.

Originally from Moycullen in Co Galway, Eoin Langan is married with two young children and lives in Celbridge, Co Kildare.

The business school at AIT has in excess of 1,200 students and offers programmes in a broad range of disciplines, including business studies, law, accounting, computing, office management, international business management; as well as a number of industry-specific courses for the equine and music industries. Students can undertake programmes from higher certificate level through to master's degrees.

More than 230 overseas students are currently registered with the Business School, making it the most internationalised of the institute's faculties. The school is an active member of the Business School Network (BUSINET ) and of the European Association for International Education (EAIE
