Honda is reducing prices across its car range for 2011, effective immediately. The rate of reduction varies across the range but the biggest cut of six per cent applies to the Civic hatchback series. It should be noted that all prices that Honda quotes exclude metallic paint, as well as delivery and related charges.
“We expect a new passenger car market of around 90,000 in 2011 now that the Government scrappage scheme is extended to June 2011,” Frank Kennedy, sales and marketing director of importer Universal Honda told the Advertiser.
“From a Honda perspective, we are determined to increase our share of the market and we are confident that through the introduction of some new and exciting models, pricing reductions across the range, combined with the high levels of specification, reliability and award-winning safety features associated with Honda products, we will achieve our objective.
“In addition, three out of every four Hondas sold are tax band A or B efficient which qualifies them for the lower tax tariffs,” he added.
New options are introduced in the Civic range, highlighted by the introduction of the 1.4Si special edition i-VTEC five door hatchback starting at €20,995. The Civic Si is equipped with all of the comfort and safety features associated with the Civic hatchback range. It is identified specifically by the fitting of a sports mesh front grille, sporty 16” alloy wheels, and a high quality Alcantara interior. Pricing for all three door and five door Civics has been restructured. Some Civic 1.8 models are also available but by special order only.
The much acclaimed Honda Jazz will now start from €15,895 with vehicle stability assist (VSA ) standard on all models. There is a choice of seven models in the Jazz range including 1.2l and 1.4l i-VTEC engines, with manual and i-shift transmissions.
The Insight pricing for 2011 starts at €22,375 (inclusive of the hybrid VRT refund ) for the SE version. As the Insight models are equipped with a smooth fuel efficient continuously variable transmission (CVT ) and with low CO2 emissions of 101g/km, the annual road tax cost is only €104 per annum.
In the Accord range, pricing for all diesel models has been reduced except for some automatic variants. The Accord diesel range now starts at €32,500 for a high specification ES option. Likewise, CR-V diesel prices have been reduced, with the ES diesel model now starting at €39,995.
New Honda CR-Z
The new Honda CR-Z, the world’s first six-speed manual hybrid sports car, is an addition to the range for 2011. Powered by the combination of a 1.5l Honda VTEC engine and Honda’s hybrid pack, this car delivers stunning performance yet outstanding fuel economy at 5litres/100km and low CO2 emissions which combine to achieve the lowest annual road tax rate of €104.
