Lexus says their Hybrid drivers around the world have accumulated over 11 billion fuel efficient hybrid kilometres since 2005, marking a significant and outstanding achievement for this pioneering technology.
The first Lexus Hybrid was launched in 2005 and since then have sold 283,289 vehicles globally (up to the end of November 2010 ). This milestone has been achieved via Lexus’ three hybrid models GS 450h, LS 600h and the flagship RX Hybrid*, which now accounts for over 70 per cent of global sales.
Next month, the Lexus CT 200h, the world’s first luxury compact hybrid will arrive in Ireland early bringing Lexus affordability to a new level at €28,450, inclusive of the governments rebate for hybrid vehicles. Created for people who have an environmental conscience, the new model brings Lexus’ unique synthesis of quality, sophistication and high technology to the premium compact segment for the first time.
Commenting to the Advertiser on this, Mark Teevan, Managing Director, Lexus Ireland said: “This is a one of many milestones that Lexus Hybrids will reach over the next decade. It is clear that drivers are moving in a new direction and Lexus Hybrids can meet the demand for significantly lower emissions, without compromising on the quality, refinement and driving pleasure which hallmark the progressive luxury inherent in every Lexus.
Lexus remains the only luxury hybrid manufacturer, and with an 11 Billion kilometre head start on our competitors, we intend to continue to lead the way and look forward to expanding out range with the launch of the CT200h next month.”
