Recognise unsung heroes by nominating them for Galway People of the Year awards

People are being urged to recognise “unsung heroes” in the community by nominating them for a prestigious local award.

Ollie Robinson of Rehab, which runs the Galway People of the Year Awards, says this is an ideal way to ensure these people’s achievements or contributions get the recognition they deserve.

“The awards are recognised as one of the highest accolades a person can receive in Co Galway,” says Mr Robinson. “Based on nominations received from the public and finalised by an independent panel of judges the awards give public recognition to groups and individuals who through their personal leadership participation courage or achievement have made an outstanding contribution to the community at home or abroad.

“People can be nominated for their achievements in areas such as community involvement, sport, charity work, public service entertainment, youth work, tourism, leadership, personal achievement, media work, research, enterprise, and employment arts and culture, etc.”

The closing date for nominations has been extended to Thursday January 20 because of the bad weather and the Christmas break.

Further information or nomination forms are available from Rehab at (091 ) 756653 or (087 ) 2437009 or post your nominations to Rehab People of the Year, Unit 5B, Liosban Business Park, Galway or you can email them to [email protected]
