Robotics Ireland is to host the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology ) Lego League Challenge at The Radisson Blu Hotel, Galway, this Saturday, January 8.
The free event, which takes place from 10.30am to 4.30pm, will involve live action from 25 teams of students from all over the country who will be competing for a place in the global finals of the competition. There will be stands by Science Gallery, the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, and an Irish robotics stand with sumo wrestling robots.
The event will also house interactive displays such as vibrating model airplanes with strobe lighting where students can observe patterns with the naked eye and laser eavesdropping where visitors are shown how a laser beam can be used to detect vibrations at a distance, as well as lots of music and dancing. It will certainly make for a great family day out.
