A three-year package of funding for Westside Age Inclusion has been announced that will allow the services provided in the area to continue.
The funding will see the continuation of the laundry service, home help, house maintenance and maintain our office at Unit 13, Westside Enterprise Centre. The project employs seven people.
The news has been welcomed by Labour councillor Billy Cameron, the chair of the board of WAI. WAI delivers services to the socially disadvantaged elderly people who live in Westside.
“This secured funding was brought about by the preparation and submission of a Work Plan to Pobal who then analysed and scrutinised it,” he said. “It has been a difficult year for WAI with the retirement and replacement of managers, but despite this the present manager, Nicola Tierney, and board members have worked tirelessly to retain the service.”
