SuperValu to sell millions worth of turkeys as shoppers buy Irish

With the Christmas count down well underway, SuperValu is expecting a bumper year for Irish turkeys and hams, with sales expected to be in the region of €6 million, as consumers put Irish produce firmly on the Christmas menu.

With in excess of 100,000 turkeys and over 150,000 ham fillets, Irish farming is set to get an early Christmas present, as consumers are increasingly seeking out Irish produce for the festive season.

SuperValu is supporting this push for Irish by offering consumers a half price turkey via their Real Rewards card and 50 per cent off ham fillets from now until the big day.

SuperValu is the only Irish supermarket with a policy of sourcing and selling only 100 per cent Irish meat and poultry, which is born, bred and reared in Ireland.

Our commitment to Irish based producers includes sales of over €1 billion worth of fresh Irish food every year. Across the entire range, 75 per cent of everything sourced by Musgrave on behalf of its retail brands, is either produced or sourced in Ireland.

This represents total purchases from Irish suppliers in excess of €2.85 billion, serving to both create and protect almost 300,000 Irish jobs in the farm, food and retail sector.
