Life, customs, and culture in the Claddagh fishing village in the 19th century will be explored in a public talk at the Galway City Museum next week.
Cultural geographer, Fidelma Mullane, will give a talk entitled Impressions of the Claddagh in the 19th Century in the museum on Monday at 7pm.
The talk will draw from written and illustrated accounts of travel writers who came to the Claddagh throughout the 1800s. The village was unique in that it co-existed with the old walled town for centuries, yet it maintained a very different culture - with the emphasis on Gaelic spirituality and frugality.
Adult storyteller Rab Fulton will hold a new series of his weird and wonderful tales on Tuesday night at 7pm.
