Man charged with stealing more than €4,500 of cigarettes

The case of a Dublin man who allegedly damaged a vending machine beyond repair and stole more than €4,500 worth of cigarettes from a hotel has been adjourned until after the New Year.

Raymon O’Hara (44 ) with an address at 24J Saint Mary’s Mansion, Dublin 1, appeared before Judge David Anderson at Galway District Court on Monday charged with the theft and criminal damage at the Salthill Hotel on January 16, 2010.

Inspector Ernie White told the court that the DPP had consented to the matter being dealt with summarily. He also said that it will be alleged that various brands of cigarettes, amounting to €4,543, had been stolen and that the vending machine had been damaged beyond repair.

Judge Anderson accepted jurisdiction and adjourned the matter for mention to January 17 next.
