Dolan’s Art Auctions will return to the Marriott Hotel, Galway, this Sunday, when more than 200 paintings will go under the hammer at the new earlier start time of 3pm. As always, this is likely to be a very popular and well received event.
Viewing commences tomorrow (Friday ) from 2pm to 9pm and continues on Saturday from 10am to 9pm. Sunday viewing commences at 10am and will continue until the 3pm auction time. During the past 12 months Dolan’s has conducted art auctions in Cork, Limerick, and Galway, and has been very pleased with the response.
Dolan’s has established itself as a key provincial art auction house with remarkable success to date, a measure of the broad range and quality of the work on offer, and a growing reputation for showcasing the best of young emerging artists who are set to make their mark in the world of Irish art.
This auction features a broad range of traditional and contemporary work by many of Ireland’s well known and established artists and sculptors. An important view of the Claddagh by renowned artist Kenneth Webb, which was painted some 50 years ago, is one of the highlights of the sale. Interesting views of Galway by Annemarie Bourke and Kay Brennan are sure to catch the eye, and in particular Bourke’s large work Aspects of Galway depicts a medley of all the famous aspects of the city. Views of Salthill and of the diving boards at Blackrock will also strike a note with many Galwegians.
In all more than 200 paintings will go under the hammer, and many are surprisingly affordable. The auction will include a small collection of work by John Skelton, all of which are fresh to the market and will be sold without reserve.
