New signage on the M6 Dublin to Galway road, indicating the turn off to Oranmore, as well as signs for B&Bs, shopping, services, and tourist activities in the area are to be erected.
The signs will be located before junction 19 on the M6. The signs are currently being designed and will be erected in the coming weeks.
Fianna Fáil Galway West TD Frank Fahey, who secured agreement from the NRA and Galway County Council for the additional signage, has welcomed the news.
The development comes on a request from prolonged and strong representations to the NRA over the past number of months, and should help, in particular, the B&B industry, especially during the many events that Galway holds throughout the year.
“I wish to commend the actions of the B&B owners in the Oranmore area who put forward a tenacious case for the additional signage,” said Dep Fahey, “as it was clear there was a lack of distinctive tourist signage for Oranmore on the M6 motorway.”
Dep Fahey said he hopes the tourist information signage will have “a positive impact on the B&B industry and for businesses as a whole” in Oranmore.
