A weekend of laughs at the Galway Comedy Festival

THE GALWAY Comedy Festival is on and the city is set for a weekend of laughs with comics like David O’Doherty, Dead Cat Bounce, Andrew Maxwell, and Phill Jupitus.

A number of shows are almost sold out - Rich Hall in the Róisín Dubh tomorrow and Who Needs Enemies in the Town Hall Theatre on Friday and Sunday.

There are still tickets to two shows featuring the great Phill Jupitus. Phill plays the Town Hall Theatre, with Dead Cat Bounce, Karl Spain, and Phil Nichol, tonight at 8pm. This will be something special as the show marks Phill’s return to stand up after eight years! Phill will also join the Whose Line is it Anyway? team in Cuba* tomorrow at 8.30pm.

There are still tickets available to the major comedy shows in the Radisson Live Lounge for Jimeoin, with Tom Rhodes, Ian Coppinger, and David O’Doherty this evening at 8pm; Andrew Maxwell, Dead Cat Bounce, Eric Lalor, and Brendon Burns tomorrow at 8pm; Rubberbandits, Hardy Bucks, Grandmaster Cash, and Hector Ó hEochagáin on Saturday at 8pm; and Colin Murphy, Abandonman, Carl Donnelly, and Andrew Maxwell on Sunday at 10pm.

The Festival Club will run from tomorrow and up to and including Sunday from 11pm to 2am at The Veranda Lounge in the Radisson Blu Hotel. Tonight is free admission with music from DJ Ferg; tomorrow features Phill Jupitus on DJ duties (admission €5 ); Saturday is Gigantic with Today FM’s Paul McLoone (admission €10 ); and a silent disco on Sunday with DJ Ferg and Gugai (admission €5 ).

Skype Comedy will feature comedians in various parts of the world on screen in Galway. The comedian, in turn, can see the audience from his/her living room. The identity of these Skype guests remains a closely guarded secret but to see who will be there go to the Róisín Dubh on Saturday at 7pm to see Andrew Maxwell, Danny Dowling, Paddy Courtney, and Skype guests. Danny Dowling’s Comedy Circus at 8pm on Sunday in Campbell’s Tavern will also feature Skype guests.
