Recycling facilities in Galway city and county are to receive a major boost with the announcement of funding from the Government.
The Galway County Council will receive €156,867 and the Galway City Council €89,351 to assist them with the cost of running local bring banks and civic recycling facilities.
The funding has been welcomed by Galway West Fianna Fáil TD Frank Fahey. “I am delighted in the continuance of this financial support for recycling facilities despite constraints on the public finances,” he said.
The funding which is made available from the Environment Fund gets revenue from the plastic bag levy and landfill levies.
