The Co-Op in Moycullen has long been the most important historical structure in the village, but until last year it had been a derelict shell for many years. Well known Galway engineers and restorers the Heneghans have breathed new life into the building, transforming it into a unique restaurant and entertainment venue. The venue will celebrate its first birthday this weekend.
The Co-Op has proved very popular since it opened its doors last year. Offering a stylish interior where modern industrial cool meets traditional west of Ireland comfort, The Co-Op is the perfect venue for delicious dining or a lively night out.
The Heneghan family has retained the building’s historic architectural features, creating a visually stunning interior where original wood and granite arches provide an impressive canopy to a decor which balances modern and antique, and a friendly, lively, atmosphere.
The venue has garnered a reputation for its great mix of live music, both traditional and contemporary, in a hip yet comfortable setting. The music starts early and finishes late, with lively discourse and dancing through the evening. The restaurant offers diners a contemporary gastronomic experience, with the finest of local produce at very affordable prices.
The Co-Op will celebrate its first birthday this Saturday with a massive birthday party. The celebrations will kick off at 9.30pm with live music by No Banjo, followed by DJ Brick Flanders.
