Galway Theatre Festival

THE FIRST Galway Theatre Festival begins next week and showcases a host of local theatre companies staging eight productions, four of which are new, locally-written, plays.

The festival will be officially opened on Wednesday at 6pm in the Nuns Island Theatre followed at 8pm Dragonfly Theatre’s production of Reptilian and at 10.30pm by Fregoli Theatre’s Savage Love and Producing Playmates.

On Thursday 23 at 4pm Fregoli will stage Savage Love and Producing Playmates while Reptilian is on at 8pm. At 10.30pm Galway actor, writer, and musician Andrias De Staic will perform The Year I Got Younger.

On Friday 24, Reptilian is at 1pm while Selkie Theatre production of Goodwill by Patrick Collins is at 4pm. At 8pm Mephisto Theatre will stage the comedy The World’s Wife by Carol Ann Duffy, while Andrias De Staic returns at 10.30pm for The Year I Got Younger.

The World’s Wife starts proceedings on Saturday 25 with a 1pm production, followed at 4pm by Goodwill. At 8pm Moonfish Theatre will present After the End by Denis Kelly, and the festival concludes at 10.30pm with Stand up Theatre.
