LAMA award-winning Galway company Winters Property Management has announced that Tom Murphy is to take over the role of managing director, leaving his current position of director of operations.
Mr Murphy has been with Winters since 2005, rapidly becoming an integral part of the company, streamlining internal operations and advancing the key services offered within all functions including property management and the sizeable letting and Section 50 departments.
“The property management sector is a demanding industry and occasionally gets maligned in the media, and on the political stage, due to lack of industry regulation resulting in poor professional standards in some quarters. However, I am fortunate in that I am part of one of the largest companies in the sector in the country, with a solid ten-year reputation for setting standards in terms of professionalism, customer care, employee support and development,” he said.
A Galway native, Mr Murphy was born in Athenry, attending St Patrick’s National School followed by St Joseph’s (The Bish ) in Galway City, and completing his education at the Athlone Institute of Technology. He has worked in a variety of corporate industries over the last 32 years, including Crown Equipment where he gained invaluable insight into the manufacturing industry and the culture of a multi-national company, and with global giant Nortel, working in materials management and later in customer relationship management where he held a number of senior management positions.
Upon leaving Nortel Mr Murphy joined the Irish offices of Milwaukee-based company Maysteel Corporate, which manufactures steel frames for the computer industry, managing their customer service and logistics department, based in Co Galway. Just eighteen months later Mr Murphy was introduced to founder and director of Winters Property Management, Pat Winters, and joined the team in January 2005.
