New exhibition to explore ideas of ‘home’

“AN ENGLISHMAN’S home is his castle,” goes the old saying, but as The Temptations pointed out, “Papa was a rolling stone, wherever he laid his hat was his home.”

Home means different things to different people - to some it is about security, refuge, even identity, to others it’s somewhere to crash before moving on to the next stopping point.

The idea of home will be explored in a new solo exhibition entitled Place, by Galway artist Fiona Hession. Place will be officially opened tomorrow at 7pm in the Lorg Printmakers Gallery, Unit 8, Ballybane Enterprise Centre. The guest speaker will be artist Aideen Barry.

Fiona works in a variety of disciplines such as sculpture, print, and textiles. She endeavours to view ‘The Home’ as an organic concept and an entity that continues to evolve as the world around us changes.

Fiona graduated with a first class honours degree in fine art sculpture from GMIT. She was awarded The RDS Printmaking Award 2010.
