Man charged after Tuam drugs bust tracks cocaine from Peru

A man charged in connection with the seizure of drugs worth more than €10,000 in Tuam was further remanded in custody this week.

Polish native Tomaz Rokowski (27 ) with an address at 92 Cois na hAbhainn, Tuam, appeared before Galway District Court on Tuesday and was charged with alleged importation of drugs, under Section 3 and 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Rokowski, along with two other men, was arrested on Monday following the drugs bust in the Tuam area by members of the Garda drugs unit and customs. Gardai had tracked a package, containing cocaine, believed to have been sent from Peru.

The two other men, also non nationals, had been held for questioning at Galway Garda Station but were later released from custody and files are now being prepared for the DPP.
