Oranmore B&Bs, hotels and businesses are losing business because tourists cannot locate the town due to the complete absence of signage on the M6.
This is the view of Fine Gael senator Fidelma Healy Eames who has been contacted by a number of B&Bs to say that pre-booked guests have found themselves lost at the end of the motorway at the Galway Clinic and unable to locate Oranmore.
Sen Healy Eames is now calling on the Galway County Council and the CEO of the National Roads Authority, Fred Barry, to have signage put in place at the earliest possible date.
“Too much business is being threatened and possibly lost as a result of this,” she said. “Very frustrated hostelry owners have expressed their anger at this oversight especially in view of the downturn in trade.”
