A retired psychoanalyst is seeking six people to take part in a free social experiment aimed at having money.
Jay Silver, who lives in Tuam, worked previously in a Dublin hospital. She has developed and taught a number of courses and classes, some at GMIT. She has a morning slot on Midwest radio’s Tommy Marren Show presenting what she terms “feel-good-factor” talks called “Ordinary Miracles.”
She believes it is time for people to rethink their approach to money. “I believe that today’s cutthroat approach to having and using money is quite brutal and would like to see a market place where there is honour and fairness.
“Over the years I have watched people destroy each other and themselves in the chasing and acquisition of those little bits of coloured paper called money. The visible consequences of this aggressive and destructive attitude to money is now, sadly but inevitably, all too apparent, as jobs and homes and peace of mind disappear into the ever open mouths of the hungry banks. In view of the present negativity in the money market I have decided to come out of retirement to set up The trick to having money experiment. This is a genuine experiment involving re-appraisal of how we think about money and the way we are prepared to obtain it.
The six participants can come from all walks of life (the experiment is not suitable for school leavers ) and there is no upper age limit.
“They will possess a reasonable standard of education and will be prepared to put time into the experiment,” she explains. “They may have recently been made redundant or have a business that they wish to develop. They may be retired and wish to acquire money to enjoy their retirement or simply wish to have more money. The training involves study, discussions and action and will take place in Tuam.
“Because this is an experiment it’s not possible to fix a timescale. It will last as long as it takes for the students to learn the trick to having money.”
