The Oughterard courthouse has been the focus of recent work by the Oughterard Tourism and Development Association (OTDA ) to establish how the flagship building can be brought back to life for the benefit of the community.
Funds have been secured through LEADER to undertake a technical/conservation study on the condition of the building.
In addition is a study on the possible uses involving broad consultation with the community and stakeholders. The consultation process will involve architects, State agencies and the community.
A project team involving community groups has been established and is about to start work.
The implementation of the plan will form a separate and subsequent application to LEADER for grant assistance.
All interested parties are invited to a meeting to discuss what the community would like to see happening in the courthouse.
The meeting will take place on Monday July 19 at 7.30pm in the Oughterard community centre.
