THE GALWAY Theatre Festival is seeking new play scripts for this year’s Rehearsed Reading Series. The festival takes place from October 25 to 31.
Scripts will be accepted from Irish or Ireland-based writers only and must be written in either Irish or English. Plays must not have had a previous production or be scheduled for production and must not exceed one hour in length.
A shortlist will be announced in September and the finalists will then be invited to sit in on the rehearsal process and receive feedback from directors and performers.
The Quare Land by John McManus was part of last year’s Rehearsed Reading Series and will receive a full production at this year’s Galway Arts Festival. Jaki McCarrick’s Leopoldville was also featured among last year’s readings and has since won the 2010 Papatango New Writing Award in Britain and a run in Covent Garden.
