Kenny’s and Born to host major sculpture exhibition

“PAINTING AND sculpture are very archaic forms. It’s the only thing left in our industrial society where an individual alone can make something with not just his own hands, but brains, imagination, heart maybe.”

So said the American artist Philip Guston and his words are apt to describe an exhibition which will feature some of the greatest contemporary Irish sculptors.

Seoda 2010 will be held in The Kenny Gallery, Liosbán Industrial Estate, and at the terrace in the Born store, Newtownsmith, from July 12 to 24 as part of the Galway Arts Festival.

Seóda brings together artists working in various parts of the country who work in different media (though mostly in bronze ) but all producing three dimensional images. The works that will be on display range from the monumental to small studio pieces.

The artists featured in the exhibition include John Behan, John Coll, Colm Brennan, Rory Breslin, Anna Campbell, Cliodna Cussen, Jason Ellis, Nic Fiddian Green, Thomas Glendon, Leo Higgins, James MacCarthy, Eileen MacDonagh, Fidelma Massey, Selma McCormack, James McKenna, Eamonn O’Doherty, Patrick O’Reilly, Pádraic Reaney, Mark Rode, and Imogen Stuart.
