Calvin Harris and New Young Pony Club to DJ @ Cuba*

CALVIN HARRIS, currently riding high in the charts with ‘Dance Wiv Me’ with Dizzee Rascal and the very hip New Young Pony Club will perform DJ sets in Cuba*, Eyre Square.

New Young Pony Club

New Young Pony Club will perform a DJ set in Cuba*, Eyre Square, tomorrow. Led by Tahita Bulmer and Andy Spence, NYPC’s philosophy is to put the fun back into music and get people dancing.

“We wanted to get everyone dancing. Just joining in,” says Tahita. “You could be enjoying yourself. This is not a dress rehearsal. This is life. Do you want to think of yourself on your deathbed standing at an amazing gig drinking a pint and trying to look cool?”

Given that attitude, you know what to expect from their set on the night. Support is from Colm Kenefick. Admission is free.

Calvin Harris

Calvin Harris, the pop writer, producer, performer, and self-proclaimed reinventer of disco, returns to perform a DJ set at Cuba* on Friday August 1 at 11pm.

In 2005, the Dumfries man set up a Myspace page to promote his music. Via Myspace, Calvin came across Sugababes’ songwriter Felix Howard. He was impressed with Calvin’s music and used his contacts to help the young Scot get signed.

Kylie Minogue got wind of Calvin’s music and asked him to help her out. He supplied Kylie with ‘In My Arms’ and also co-wrote and produced ‘Heart Beat Rock’. Calvin’s own tunes ‘Acceptable In The 80s’, and ‘The Girls’ were released as singles and went Top 10. His debut album I Created Disco, also made waves in the charts in 2006.

Admission is €15. Support is from Byrno and Gary Lee.
