Scoil Mhuire Clarinbridge had two outstanding sporting victories in recent weeks when their girls’ soccer team won the All-Ireland Schools’ title and the boys’ hurling team followed up by winning the county hurling title.
The girls had also won the All-Ireland in 2007 and the boys were finalists in the hurling championship last year so they were due a change of luck. They had won the football in 2009.
The girls beat the champions of Leinster, Munster and Ulster, scoring nine goals and conceding just one. The boys also won all their matches beating Bullaun in the final in a hard-fought match. Both teams returned to a much appreciated heroes’ welcome and celebration in Clarinbridge.
