The Labour Party in Galway will hold a major meeting on employment and economic issues on Thursday June 17 at 8pm in the Harbour Hotel.
The meeting, entitled Jobs and the Real Economy, will be addressed by Labour finance spokesperson Joan Burton and SIPTU President Jack O’Connor. Galway West TD Michael D Higgins will chair the meeting.
According to Cllr Derek Nolan, one of the organisers, the meeting will focus on Labour’s plans for job creation. It will also feature the party’s proposal to create a strategic investment bank to fund public capital projects.
“The Government’s obsession with ‘banks and cuts’ ignores those that need jobs and is a real threat to the economy,” he said. “Jobs can’t wait for the banks to be fixed.”
The meeting is open to the general public and interested parties.
