THE LONDON Lasses and Pete Quinn have made a significant contribution to the London Irish music scene and they are returning to Ireland to play a gig at the Crane on Tuesday. The internationally renowned traditional Irish band are touring Ireland on the occasion of their 10th anniversary.
The six piece band have built up a solid reputation in Ireland, the UK, mainland Europe, and the US in recent years and their popularity continues to grow. The band have thrived in London since mass emigration in the fifties and sixties and they are eagerly awaiting their first Irish tour in more than seven years. Two band members have family living in the Galway region so a warm welcome is most definitly assured.
Described by Irish Music Magazine as ‘one of the best bands on the scene today’, over the past decade The London Lasses and Pete Quinn have brought their unique sound to some of the world’s most prestigious festivals and concert halls, including Cambridge Folk Festival, the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam ), Glastonbury, Ballyshannon, Philadelphia Irish Festival, and the Royal Albert Hall, where the band performed the first ever céilí as part of the 2008 BBC Proms.
The Lasses' new line-up sees the addition of Co Kerry flute player Elma McElligott and Co Down vocalist/harpist Brona McVittie, who join long-standing band members Karen Ryan (fiddle/mandola ), Elaine Conwell (fiddle ), Maureen Linane (accordion ) and Pete Quinn (piano/keyboard ). They are all very much looking forward to playing at The Crane in Galway.

The June 2 show upstairs at the Crane will kick off at 9.30pm, Admission is €17.50, members €15. A great gig is assured on the special occasion of their 10th anniversary tour.
